Call for Presentations

The Arizona Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (AHPCO) is seeking presentations for concurrent sessions at our bi-annual conferences.  This is your opportunity to share your knowledge, research, experience and techniques with hospice and palliative care professionals.  As a presenter at this conference, you will join with speakers, consultants and experts from around the state and country as well as key members of the end-of-life care community who are passionate about quality care in Arizona.  To submit your presentation abstract for consideration, please review the requirements below and then submit your proposal using the online form located below.  All presentations will be reviewed by AHPCO Education Committee for final approval. Conference Format, Schedule & Target Audiences:  
Both of our  conferences are 1-day interdisciplinary programs that typically feature 1 general session and 3 concurrent sessions with 3 focus areas each.  The featured focus areas for the conference are: 
Clinical:  Nurses, Physicians… 
Psychosocial:  Social Workers, Bereavement Workers, Volunteer Coordinators, Chaplains…
Management:  Administrators, Owners, Supervisors, QA, Finance Directors…

Sample Schedule 
9:00 a.m. Session A – Opening Session
10:30 a.m. Break & Exhibits
10:45 a.m. Session B – Concurrent Sessions
12:00 p.m. Lunch & Roundtable Discussions
1:00 p.m. Session C – Concurrent Sessions
2:15 p.m. Break & Exhibits
2:30 p.m. Session D – Concurrent Sessions
3:45 p.m. Evaluation 

How You Will Benefit as a Presenter:
Presenters at the conference will receive:
Visibility and Recognition as a Content and/or Thought Leader in End-of-Life Care.
Opportunities to share experiences, ideas and lessons learned with health care professionals.
Complimentary registration* for the Conference & Display Table in Session Room 
(*applies to attendee registrations only; exhibitor registration is not included).

Presentation Format: 
Presentations must be 60 minutes in length with an additional 15-minutes for “Question & Answers”.   Presenters are encouraged to make their presentations interactive.

Requirements:  
Proposals may only be submitted using the online form – faxed/mailed proposals will not be accepted.  
1. Presentation Abstract with learner’s objectives, content outline and teaching methods.  
2. Speaker Biographical Statement demonstrating expertise in the subject matter and experience with adult learning techniques (we may also request a CV/Resume as part of the selection process).
3. Audio-Visual Needs:  Presenters will have a microphone and table available for use.  Please indicate any additional needs on the form.  
4. Materials:  Please indicate if you will have handouts beyond copies of slides - these are encouraged, especially those that are models, samples, etc.  

Evaluation Guidelines:  
Presentation proposals are reviewed on a regular basis using the following guidelines:
 
Practical application of materials
Relevance to Hospice/Palliative Care
Timely or Innovative Topic
Clearly defined objectives and focus
Teaching Experience of Presenter(s)
Overall Quality of Presentation/Presenter
Freedom from Commercial Bias

If your Proposal is selected, the primary contact person will be notified by AHPCO Staff.  Proposals that are not selected are retained for up to 2 years and may be reviewed for a future program.
